Wonky Soaps began in my kitchen a few years ago with my children questioning the products that we were using and their impact on the environment. I started to look at what was actually in the soap and shower gels that we used and was horrified by my findings. I never realised that many soaps contain animal fats and these are used because they are a cheap way of bulking up the product. I then began to research making my own soap and after many trials I came up with a basic formula for a soap that is 100% natural and full of moisturising ingredients like Shea butter, avocado oil, olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, caster oil and sweet almond oil. To this I added blends of pure essential oils and fragrances. My family were my guinea pigs and then my friends. Requests for more, resulted in me starting to sell at craft fairs and other venues and improving and extending my product range as I went along.
The technicalities of selling cosmetic products are very onerous and the journey from making soap at home for myself, to being able to sell to the public was a long and complicated one. But we got there in the end! But note! No two bars of soap will ever be the same, because each one Is hand decorated and the maker uses their creativity with every batch. We like to think of each bar of soap as a little work of art! Uniquely beautiful!
At Wonky Soap all our cosmetic products have been certified for sale within Britain and the EU. and have the relevant Cosmetic Product Safety Licences. Our products are registered on the U.K. and E.U portals and are all tested as safe to use. We are also proud to be members of the Guild of Craft Soap and Toiletry Makers.
